In 1991, Marie Hope, who hails from England, originally opened A Taste of Britain on Lancaster Avenue in Devon, about a mile away from our current location. Marie eventually moved the business into a larger space on Berkely Avenue. The shop was expanded into our current location in the beautiful Eagle Village Shops in October 2009.
In 2012, Debbie Heth bought A Taste of Britain, and is proud to be running it today. Debbie brought in a partner, Edward Pierce, in 2017, and the two have embraced the tradition and warmth of A Taste of Britain. We are so very proud of our loyal customers and all the happy memories that happen here.
Over time, our menu has expanded from tea and scones (although our Full Afternoon Tea is still our specialty!), and we now serve lovely salads, popular homemade soups (fresh pea with mint is a customer favorite), wonderful sandwiches, and English specialties. We still use traditional English recipes for our scones, pasties (Cornish and Cheese & Onion), sausage rolls, and shepherd’s pies.
We are proud of our history and excited about our future. We hope you will be a part of it!
